When I landed in Canada in 1996 at the age of 27, I carried with me a suitcase, a degree in Catering Technology and Hotel Management, and dreams of building a meaningful life. Like many immigrants, I believed that hard work and determination would open doors. While they eventually did, the journey was far from easy.
Before coming to Canada, I had worked in India and the United Arab Emirates in the hospitality industry. I was passionate about hotel management and looked forward to continuing my career. However, reality was different. Finding employment in my field proved to be challenging, and I experienced the uncertainty and struggles that many newcomers face. Life, however, has a way of taking us in unexpected directions.
During those early years, I met a woman who would become my life partner. We came from different states in India, spoke different languages, and had different cultural backgrounds. Yet we shared similar values, mutual respect, and a desire to build a future together. She stood by me during difficult times, supporting me both emotionally and financially. Looking back, I consider her support one of the greatest blessings of my life.
After our marriage, my career took a different path. Instead of continuing in hotel management, I entered the banking and financial services industry. It was a completely new field, requiring me to learn new skills and adapt to a different professional environment. Over time, I established myself in this career and appreciated the opportunities it provided. Yet, while my profession changed, my curiosity about health and healing continued to grow.
From a young age, I had been introduced to the principles of Ayurveda. This early exposure stayed with me and inspired me to explore traditional healing systems more deeply. In 2000, I began studying Reiki and completed the first two levels of training. My journey continued, and in 2014, I became a Reiki Master.
Over the years, I also studied Ayurveda in greater depth under experienced practitioners, while learning several complementary healing modalities. I believe that learning is a lifelong journey. Every teacher, every book, every client, and every experience has contributed to my understanding of holistic health.
Today, after nearly 30 years in Canada, I find myself reflecting on an extraordinary journey. I have worked in hospitality, finance, and holistic wellness. Each chapter of my life has taught me valuable lessons about resilience, compassion, perseverance, and continuous learning.
People often ask me why I continue to study and teach natural healing. The answer is simple: knowledge has little value unless it is shared. Whether I am teaching Reiki, discussing Ayurvedic principles, or introducing people to natural approaches to wellness, my goal has always been to empower others with knowledge that may improve their quality of life.
Reiki healing is a gentle, hands-on energy practice that supports the body’s natural ability to relax, reset, and restore balance. By working with the body’s energy flow, Reiki helps ease physical tension, calm the nervous system, and release emotional heaviness that builds up over time. Many people find that regular sessions bring greater clarity, steadier moods, and a stronger sense of connection to themselves. While Reiki isn’t a substitute for medical treatment, it works well alongside a healthy lifestyle, supporting stress relief, mindfulness, and long-term wellness. At its core, Reiki offers a simple path back to balance and inner calm.
This website is an extension of that purpose. Through these blogs, I hope to share insights from Ayurveda, Reiki, holistic health, and my personal experiences. My intention is not to replace conventional medicine but to encourage a balanced approach to health that respects both modern science and traditional wisdom.
If my journey inspires even one person to continue learning, overcome life’s challenges, or discover a healthier and more balanced way of living, then I will consider my efforts worthwhile. Thank you for visiting our Art of Self-Healing website and becoming a part of this continuing journey. I look forward to sharing more articles, experiences, and practical knowledge with you in the days ahead.
